5FDP 20th Anniversay World tour sells out Pine Knob Music Theater

What a way to celebrate 20 years! Five Finger Death Punch had plenty to celebrate Sunday night at Pine Knob Music Theatre. The boys from Las Vegas brought their 20th Anniversary World Tour to the Motor City is a major celebration of two decades of hard rock and heavy metal, The massive 48-city tour kicked off in July and will run through 2027. Joining them on tour country singer Cody Jinks and Michigan’s own Eva Under Fire.

The band opened with “Welcome to the Circus,” followed by “Eye of the Storm” and “Legacy,” right from the start things got out of hand leaving you feeling like being trapped in the twilight zone. Frontman Ivan Moody addressed the audience early in the performance answering questions why a country act is on tour. “We like to be diverse, and I grew up with country music” also noting “I’m also an AC/DC and Judas Priest fan.” Getting back to some kick ass tracks Moody and the boys hit pine knob with “Wash It All Away,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” “Lift Me Up” and “Bad Company.” Moody had about 12,000 fans joining him on the Bad Company cover. The crowd joined Moody all night as his voice was a little on the downside as of late.

Bassist Chris Kael also got his turn with the crowd, engaging with his fans all night long supplying some with guitar picks. The band’s newest guitarist Andy James delivered some solid guitar rips and shreds alongside founding guitarist Zoltan Bathory. James displayed those rips during “Burn It Down,” “Wrong Side of Heaven,” and “Trouble.” A highlight from the night came during “Burn MF” brought when Moody invited three young boys onto the stage to help deliver the song’s opening chants. Those three young lads will have a memory of a lifetime and can’t wait to tell their friends they got to hang out with 5FDP. Moody called them the next generation of metal. Front row folks went home with multiple memorabilia thrown into the crowd by Moody, including but not limited to his hat, cane and many kerchiefs.

Second highlight of the evening came with bassist Chris Kael doing small vocal snippets of Enter Sandman/Last Resort/Livin On a Prayer Kael got some of that Detroit love from the sold-out crowd. The band ended the 19-song set with hard hitters “Under and Over It,” “Sham Pain,” and “The Bleeding.” The tour is steam rolling through a city near you, don’t be a fool and miss this one-of-a-kind production in a city near you.

Kicking things off early Michigan own Eva Under Fire delivery a high energy set. The band has come a long way and has toured with some big names, tonight show probably is their biggest to date. Out of all the local bands coming out of Michigan Eva Under Fire is so deserving of what they have accomplished to be where they are with more to come on their journey to the top.
