The English New Wave band Depeche Mode brought their Memento Mori World Tour to Little Caesars Arena Wednesday night for the first time since 2017 when they played Pine Knob quickly sold out the LCA. Fans from all across the great lakes state and even our neighbors from Canada made the short drive just across the Detroit River. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers dazzled the packed house with classic Depeche Mode tracks along with their new album Memento Mori out now made for a banger of a set. Frontman David Gahn hit the stage looking like a rockstar with in his black vest with some whites boots along with some slicked back hair ignited the crowd with his masterful, showmanship style stage presence, along with vocals that speak for themselves.
The electronic band kicked of the evening with “My Cosmos in Mine” and “Wagging Tongue” both off their latest album “Memento Mori.” The 23-song set had all the classic hits including “Enjoy the Silence” “Black Celebration” and “Never Let Me Down Again.” A pretty cool highlight from the night came when the duo paid tribute to co-founder Andy Fletcher who passed away at the age of 60 in 2022 with “World In My Eyes” a photo of Fletcher was displayed on the video screen during the tribute. Guitarist Martin Gore sang “Dressed In Black” during the acoustic version and the crowd was taken in with emotion, can you say goosebumps.
The band kept the juice flowing throughout the night with hit after hit including an arena dance version if you will with “Just Can’t Get Enough” I don’t think there was a single person not dancing in their seat to this classic hit. Closing out the night with their iconic hit “Personal Jesus” Gore and Gahan delivered one hell of an encore and the sold-out crowd roared and I do mean roared back some Detroit Love. The two hour is so worth seeing and I encourage you to check them out in a city near you, oh and don’t forget your dancing shows. For more upcoming concerts dates please visit Depeche Mode.
