Disturbed brought The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour to Little Caesars Arena Monday night. The Chicago heavy metal rockers brought along some good friends along for the ride Canadian rockers Three Days Grace and Sevendust. The 25th anniversary tour will be one for the books. The crowds were wrapped around at every corner waiting to be filled with the sickness. This was an early show, and things were about to get started with the energy driven hard rock band from Atlanta Sevendust hitting the stage around 6:30. The six-song electrifying set was indeed the way to kick off a night that was going to be filled with sore necks and no voices the next morning.
Canandian rockers Three Days Grace hit the stage next reuniting with original frontman Adam Gontier (after 11-year break) ripped through their 11-song set playing all the hits leaving no question the band can still deliver on the high energy side of things. It was great to see a band with two frontmen joining as one and raising hell along the way something you don’t see every day. It was now finally time to feel the “Sickness.”
Celebrating the “Sickness” 25th year anniversary played in its entirety during the first half of the show, Disturbed opens the night with “Voices” with David Draimen being wheeled out on a dolly strapped in a white straitjacket wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask greeted with loud roars from the disturbed ones, strap yourself in folks and keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times. The Chicago rockers ripped through the classic hits like “Stupify,” “Numb,” and my all-time favorite “Down with the Sickness.”
You could look all around you and see nothing, but pure enjoyment and emotion written on the faces from all genres young and old. During the first half some deeper cuts made their way to the surface including “Violence Festish,” and “Conflict.” A nice little throwback during the first set the band did a heavy cover from Tears For Fears “Shout” a total banger! Bassist John Moyer and guitarist Dan Donegan out there looking like they are in their 20’s entertaining the front row folks all while frontman David Draimen delivered a message with every song. Let’s not forget about drummer Mike Wren banging the sticks like a true gangster.
The first set highlight came during the ending track the “Meaning of Life” with the band swapping out their cloths for bright orange prison uniforms all while Draimen broke loose from the electric chair after being electrocuted with blood dripping down the frontman face. The disturbed ones let out a roar that could be heard in Canada just across the Detroit River. Damn, we still have the “Greatest Hits” set to go! After a short break to do a little rearranging, the greatest hits set let loose with “Ten Thousand Fists” David wanting to see those fucking fists in the air! Included in the set was the band new single “I Will Not Break” the backdrop displayed a giant inflatable of the band’s mascot The Guy during “Bad Man” following up with another classic cover this time from Genesis “Land of Confusion.”

Another highlight from the set came in the form of the classic hit from Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel’s “The Sound of Silence” which always units everyone forgetting about life for a brief moment. If you are a music lover you will get this classic song, if not then there is no helping you. The song had some technical issues and like a true showman Draimen delivered a message filling up some time saying that concerts bring us the light to make us forget about the evil world we live in right now, to forget about our demons, to forget everything evil for just a few hours. Like all Disturbed concerts the band invites the little ones on to the stage with parents that will forever be life changing. This time around two 11-year-old fans enjoyed a sit in during “The Light” bet they couldn’t wait to go to school the next day. Closing the night with even more fire the set ended with “Inside the Fire.” 25 years later the band still can deliver at a high level bringing everyone together night in and night out ridding everyone from the demons who are out there lurking on us every day. The tour is just getting started so there is plenty of time to check out the band in a city near you. Horns up and keep rocking!
