The band from New Jersey which formed in the 80’s some thirty nine years ago named The SmithereensThe SmithereensThe Smithereens are still brining us the power-pop sound mixed with the 60’s sounds along with killer guitar rife and all around great balance. With that being said downtown Ferndale, Michigan will be in for a brash treat on August 24th at the Magic Bag. The venue can hold up to around 400 guests making for a intimate night for sure. The band continues to tour with three original members (Jim Babjak, Dennis Diken and bassist Mike Mesaros) despite the unfortunate death in 2017 of founding lead singer, songwriter, guitarist Pat DiNizio. The band is currently fronted by another noteworthy veteran of the power-pop scene, Marshall Crenshaw who has a great career himself. Crenshaw does a great job of carrying on the tradition. Notable songs of mention are Blood and Roses, A Girl Like You, and Only a Memory. Mark your calendars Ferndale the 24th is the date you don’t want to miss The Smithereens live.
