Following the release of “depressed on the Internet,” Bea Miller returns with “born to lose,” out now via Republic Records. Sharp, funny and deeply honest, “born to lose” picks up where “depressed on the Internet” left off, continuing Miller’s unfiltered exploration of growing up in the spotlight and the complicated reality of early success.
Written alongside longtime collaborator Justin Tranter and producers Oak Felder, and Dan Crean, “born to lose” turns self-deprecating humor into one of Miller’s most personal songs yet, confronting the fear of having already had your biggest moment while refusing to let that fear define her.
“‘born to lose’ is me making fun of myself before anyone else gets the chance,” Miller shares. “I’ve had successes that I’m incredibly grateful for, but I’ve also spent years wondering what you’re supposed to do after you experience something like that so young. I didn’t want to pretend that part of my life never happened. I wanted to write about it because I think it’s funny, it’s uncomfortable, and it’s true.”
Like “depressed on the Internet,” the track grew from the candid conversations that have become central to Miller’s creative partnership with Justin Tranter. Blending humor with emotional honesty, “Born to Lose” offers another unfiltered look at the experiences that have shaped Miller, proving that some of her most personal stories are also her most relatable.
