Cactus coming to the Token Lounge on March 13th

Cactus
Cactus in Michigan, unheard of unless your referring to the hard rock band formed in 1969 and currently featuring the iconic and founding member Carmine Appice. Carmine has performed with Rod Stewart, Jeff Beck and even the madman himself Ozzy Osbourne. Cactus was formed when Appice and then Vanilla Fudge bassist Tim Bogert’s plans to team up with Jeff Beck were canceled when Beck had a nasty automobile accident that sidelined him for a lengthy period of time. The original lineup featured Appice, Bogert, former Mitch Ryder guitarist Jim McCarty and singer Rusty Day from Ted Nugent’s Amboy Dukes. The lineup released three classic albums – Cactus (1970), One Way… or Another (1971), and Restrictions (1971) – all of which charted in the Billboard Top 200 and that still hold up well today. Black Dawn the bands most recent album which debut in 2016 was well received. The guys are working on a new album and hope to have it out this year.

The Token is no stranger to hosting some iconic bands that came to Westland to play. The current lineup consists of Carmine Appice, Paul Warren, Jimmy Kunes, Randy Pratt, and Jimmy Caputo. Carmine Appice set the foundation for heavy drumming long before anyone else. The Token will be in for a special night of rock and some sick drum playing tossed in. Detroit Rock City will be ready for you.
